Mary's play and Uncle Steve's new motorhome

With all the rain this winter California is an amazing sight!  But before we get to that,  we went to granddaughter Mary's play.
Mary was in her first high school play.  It was well done, funny and great choregraphy.  Bryan (L) and Steve and Gwen (R).

Mary (in the center) was a cheerleader in the play and a camera operator.  She said it was the most fun she'd ever had! These are two of her lifelong friends that came to see the play.

It was fun helping shop for a motorhome.  LaMesa RV had the perfect one for Steve and Gwen.
Gassing up before we headed out.  It took a long time pumping 150 or so gallons of gas!

Cool sunset reminding us of our youth in So. Cal.
Steve said he has always wanted a house in Idaho, and California , and Montana, and in the mountains.......so this way the house can go everywhere.  They'll always have their place in Mexico, but will enjoy visiting the good ol' USA.  Hopefully A LOT.

Mt San Jacinto from Desert Hot Springs RV park.  Thanks to Gwen for this and many other photos.
We traveled together for a couple of weeks.  We took turns cooking dinner.  Breakfast was on our own.  Thank goodness because S&G get up waaaayyyy earlier than we do.

The big mineral pool at Desert Hot Springs.  We older kids love the way the water helps us feel better.
Steve dreaming of the day when self driving RV's  are a reality.

Next stop, Morro Bay and Hearst Castle.  Tune in next time!

Angel, Diaz, and Burke families at Death Valley and Grand Canyon.

Three videos made by our computer expert Bill Angel.  The first is a fun trailer introduction.  The second one is Bill's drone recording of Death Valley sights.  The third one is starring our adorable great nephew Caiden. His reaction to the train robbery on the ride was very funny!  He was told it was pretend but I don't think he believed that.
After record rain the Grand Canyon was spectacular!

The train ride from Williams AZ to the Grand Canyon took about an hour.  There was a singing cowboy and a guide to entertain and inform the riders. The sensible me thought we can drive there more economically ,  but it was really worth the $$$.  The Grand Canyon Railway does a great job.  They did not pay me to say that.

Mary Mathis Burke, Bryan Burke, Jenni Angel-Diaz, Mary Burke Angel, Bill Angel. I know, the Mary's need a genealogical diagram.

This robber was living his dream living in the wild west.  He was from the Netherlands.  Quite an interesting guy!

Harvey House's and Harvey girls were a staple all along the railroads in the west.  Good food at a fair price fed those folks heading out west.
Have you ever noticed the short 'telephone polls' while driving western roads?  I had always wondered why they were low to the ground.  I thought it had to do with strong wind.   The train guide explained that these are old telegraph poles from the 1800's.  They were low so that someone on horseback could maintain and repair the equipment.  Mystery solved!

There is more blogging to do friends!  I find I am behind.  We are busy doing things and the internet is hard to come by.  After our great time with our family we went back to Scottsdale.  Mary was in a play ZOMBIE PROM.  It was great to be able to see her acting!  She was great.   I will post a photo next blog.  My brother Steve and his wife Gwen came to Arizona to buy an RV.  We just finished traveling with them and showing them a few RV'ing ropes.  But we mostly had a lot of fun traveling together. So that's next time.  Sending love to all and thanks for looking at our blog!

OOPS dang technical problems!  Another mystery.....only one of Bill's video's loaded up.  Will work on that.
